NORM COUTURIER

My passion is creating innovative solutions that solve problems companies face every day, and problems they don’t even realize they have.

I have been an I.T. business builder, owner, and entrepreneur for the last 30 years. I create innovative software products and take them to market.  Two of the products that I have helped create were successfully acquired by multi-billion dollar companies.

I have built software companies from scratch (to 100+ employees), been through a few company acquisitions, mergers and sales. I have pitched VC’s, secured investors, and have been fortunate to be part of $30M+ of acquisitions.

I am highly motivated and driven by goals and outcomes that I believe in. I also value the long-lasting relationships I build with people in pursuit of those goals.

WHAT I’VE DONE

Co-Founder, Chief Product Strategist

iTacit

Aug 2011 – Jan 2017    Fredericton, NB

iTacit’s flagship product of the same name is a cloud-based platform, which helps businesses train, connect and develop their disconnected workforces.

Our customer base has grown to over 100,000 subscribers in healthcare and financial services.

Co-Founder, CIO

Accreon

Jul 2008 – Aug 2014    Fredericton, NB

An I.T. solutions and services company, focused in healthcare, energy, government and financial services.  Accreon was created as a merger of Evention Technologies and two other local I.T. consulting practices, with a vision of creating an I.T. services company that could take on large projects with a broader and deeper expertise.

Over the following 3 years, I helped grow the business to over 140 employees, start our U.S.-based operations (Boston, MA), and incubate a new cloud-based product platform and company (iTacit).

Accreon was acquired by a U.S.-based private equity firm and continues to grow its Canadian and U.S. operations as a high-quality healthcare I.T. practice.

Co-Founder, Partner, CIO

Evention Technologies

Jul 1988 – Jul 2008    Fredericton, NB

Our vision was two-fold: to provide custom software solutions for the private sector, and to develop innovative commercial software products.

I co-led an acquisition of an Ontario-based financial e-learning company which expanded our presence into the Canadian financial services market.

I led the development of “EDC”, a SaaS-based regulatory compliance and e-Learning software product. It was later acquired by Open Text Corporation.

I led the development of “Vicura”, a SaaS-based healthcare software product, which was an early leader in computerized medication management and bedside point-of-care. It was later acquired by Omnicare, Inc..

ABOUT ME

I am an avid guitar player, motorcyclist, and lover of competitive motorsports.  I enjoy exploring new places, camping and hiking with my wife and children.

My greatest passions are writing, recording and performing music.  I have played in rock and country bands since high school. I have also written, recorded and produced some of my own music.

I also have a passion for cool engineering and design – especially cars, trucks and motorcycles – and I love to build things.  In 2004, I built a custom show truck with the intent of building something “as good as anything by the pros on the West Coast”.  The truck went on to win Best in Class in regional and national events, was featured in Truckin’, the world’s leading truck magazine, and was voted one of the 10 Best Trucks in North America in 2011.
